Sandpiper -

What comes to mind when you hear Sandpiper?  A Bodega Bay Restaurant?  A travel trailer? A Florida Resort?  How about this bird - at least I think it is a Sandpiper.
Riding along in the Dutchman's truck, he shows me this bird and something else..........can you see them?  In the midst of all the pebbles and gravel, right out in the open, next to the mother,  there are three eggs.
Talk about blending into the environment!  If you were driving along,  would you see these eggs?  Well, Mr. Sharpshooter Eyes, the Dutchman himself, never misses a thing.   (Another reason he is so fun to travel with.)  So, of course, we stop and get some pictures.
I hope that Mama hatches her eggs real soon!

  1. Beth, I love the pics of mama & her eggs! She looks like a killdeer, and we have one who hangs out just down our block on the asphalt street. Haven't looked for her eggs but it's nearby, probably in someone's front yard. You can see these birds rely on camoflage and don't hide their nests at all!! Lynn Husband

  2. Thank you Lynn! I think it is a killdeer....not a sandpiper. I think we would have to be near water to see the sandpiper. Anyway.......this killdeer certainly camoflages well!
